Flourish Café and the Walled Garden Christmas arrangements

Doncaster’s Walled Garden and Flourish Café is thinking of those who may be lonely this Christmas as it prepares for its seasonal shutdown.

The garden and café, which are located off Balby’s Tickhill Road, will close at 2pm on Christmas Eve and reopen at 9am on Monday 4th January 2021.

But the Walled Garden will have special openings on Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th December from 11am to 3pm for local residents, particularly those who have felt isolated or lonely over Christmas and who would like to see a friendly face.

Laurie Smith, from Flourish Enterprises – a not-for-profit community interest company which runs the popular venue alongside St Catherine’s House – said: “Christmas can be a challenging time for those who don’t have family and friends nearby, particularly this year with the Covid restrictions. We will be serving ‘socially distanced’ free cake, tea, coffee and friendly greetings for anyone who calls in.”

“As per the recent government advice we continue to remind everyone to keep it local and keep it safe.”
