Cancer patient to host strawberry tea for charity
A Doncaster health worker who is currently undergoing gruelling chemotherapy is holding a strawberry tea event to raise money for the charity Breast Cancer Care.
Kathy Wilson, of Balby, who is a Support Time Recovery Worker at the Walled Garden, at Flourish Enterprises, has recently undergone an operation for breast cancer. She is now undergoing chemotherapy and after this treatment has finished will start radiotherapy.
To keep her focused she set herself a goal of organising a strawberry tea for charity, with the aim of raising money for other women going through the same as herself.
The strawberry tea will be held on Tuesday, September 22 between 12 noon and 3pm at St Catherine’s House, Woodfield Park, off Tickhill Road, Balby.
Entry to the event is free, traditional cream teas will be served, donated by the Victorian Tea Room, with donations for them going to the charity. There will also be a tombola and games to raise additional cash, as well as a chocolate fountain.
Kathy said: “I decided I wanted to put my spare time to good use and this is something to focus on. With going through breast cancer I know how women feel and how important this charity is. Please come along and support this event and help raise cash for this very worthy charity.”
All are welcome and visitors to the event can simply turn up on the day.
If anyone wants to donate any cakes or tombola prizes please call reception at St Catherine’s House on 01302 798000.
Flourish Enterprises is supported by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH).
